Long Island Five

Have fun without ever crossing a bridge or tunnel.
THE 5 May 2013

1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor...
Just because Cinco de Mayo is over, doesn't mean you can't enjoy a first class margarita. Del Fuego hosts an extensive tequila menu that will turn any day into a fiesta. Weather its frozen or on the rocks, its all bueno! Cross the border from the sidewalk into a south-western saloon complete with more drinks then you can shake a hat at. You'll be delightfully surprised by the cuisine, vibe and drink specials. As if that wasn't enough, Del Fuego was literally built by supporting Long Island; the interior is made from recycled wood from old windmills and other green projects. Bottoms up.

Horse Play
The Horses have returned! Ending at the Belmont Race Track on Saturday June 8th, the Triple Crown is a 145 year tradition worth checking out. You can go for the big race, or just enjoy a leisurely day out. With an impressive 430 acre property, including the track, grand stands, club house, picnic areas, park, dining areas & stables, there is plenty to do. Refer to the calendar for special events(farmer's markets, food truck day), prices, and dress code. Just remember if you don't know which horse to bet on, pick the one with the best name. Good Luck!

Gold Coast Mansions
In honor of the premier of the "Great Gatsby" this May, visit the properties that inspired F. Scott Fitzgerald's writings. Many of the Gold Coast mansion still remain, although, unfortunately the original Gatsby house in Great Neck has been torn down. Some extravagant homes from that era that you can still tour are Oheka Castle, the Vanderbilt Mansion, Coe Hall, Mill Neck Manor, the Seversky Mansion, and Westbury Gardens. Check the site to see what's close or plan a trip and see them all! Either way, you'll get a tantalizing taste of the twenties ;)
